The Hikvision iDS-7216HUHI-M2/XT is a professional 16 channel 8MP 4K AcuSense hybrid DVR designed for customers who want to upgrade or build a powerful analogue, Turbo HD or hybrid CCTV system.

This recorder supports 16 analogue camera inputs and works with multiple video formats including HDTVI, AHD, CVI, CVBS and IP. This makes it a strong choice for upgrading existing coax-based CCTV systems without always needing to replace all existing cables.

The DVR supports up to 8MP / 4K camera recording, giving customers the option to use high-resolution CCTV cameras where clear image detail is important. It also supports up to 32 IP camera inputs, with each IP channel supporting up to 8MP, giving extra flexibility for hybrid CCTV installations.

With Hikvision AcuSense technology and Motion Detection 2.0, the recorder can classify human and vehicle movement. This helps reduce false alerts caused by rain, insects, leaves, shadows, lights or general background movement.

The iDS-7216HUHI-M2/XT also supports 16-channel AcuSearch, allowing users to search footage faster by object or event type. This is useful when reviewing recordings and trying to find important footage without wasting time.

For advanced security setups, this DVR supports up to 4-channel face picture capture and face picture comparison alarm with compatible HD analogue cameras. It also supports facial detection, face picture search, face picture library and up to 16-channel advanced perimeter protection, depending on the selected mode and system configuration.

The recorder includes 2 SATA hard drive bays, with support for up to 12TB per hard drive. This gives better storage flexibility than a basic single-bay DVR, making it suitable for larger homes, shops, offices, warehouses and commercial CCTV systems.

Audio support is also strong on this model. It supports audio over coax with compatible cameras, RCA audio input/output and two-way audio through the audio input when configured correctly.

Remote viewing is available through Hik-Connect, allowing users to view live cameras, playback recordings and receive alerts from their mobile phone.

Installer Notes

This is a strong choice for customers who already have coax CCTV cables but want a smarter and more powerful recorder. It allows you to upgrade the system without always moving fully to IP CCTV.

It is not a PoE NVR, so it does not power IP cameras directly. If IP cameras are added, they will need a separate PoE switch or suitable power supply.

Facial recognition, face capture and advanced smart features depend on the camera type, selected DVR mode and correct configuration. For best results, use compatible Hikvision cameras and good quality coax cable.
